The standards detail the requirements that must be met in order to establish an environmental management policy, determine the environmental impacts of products or services, plan environmental objectives, implement programmes to meet objectives, and carry out management reviews and corrective actions.
The international standard known as ISO 14001 outlines the requirements that must be met by an efficient environmental management system (EMS). Rather than establishing requirements for environmental performance, it offers a structure that companies can use as a guide to meet those requirements.
